Physical Education

We believe that Physical Education is an integral part of the educational process for all pupils. We understand that through well taught, high quality PE lessons pupils are provided with purposeful and enjoyable lifelong experiences. At Cheddar Grove we use a wide range of activities to contribute to the physical, social and emotional development of pupils.

The PE curriculum at Cheddar Grove has been developed to improve the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding of movement, so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. This is as well as learning, selecting, applying and evaluating skills as well as promoting positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle.

Throughout their time at Cheddar Grove children are given the opportunity to develop fundamental movement skills at KS1 and then in KS2 implement these skills through activities such as dance, games, swimming, gymnastics, athletics and outdoor adventure activities.

The KS2 PE curriculum is organised around the Ashton Park School Sports Partnership competition programme, which can be seen below. We work closely with the Partnership throughout the year to allow children to take part in internal and external school competition at a local, county and national level.
